It was wonderful to work with Nina! I felt supported throughout, from prenatal sessions, to weeks of early labor, to coaching through contractions, to food delivery after baby was born. I felt like I always had a knowledgeable and level-headed friend to turn to, even when things got tough. Our prenatal conversations made me feel prepared for the big day, and we even worked to prepare my older daughter for baby’s arrival. I had 2 weeks of early labor, which was very confusing, but Nina took me seriously through this limbo time. Nina’s coaching throughout (real) labor helped me cope with the pain of contractions. I’ll never forget that when I started shaking in transition, Nina suggested warm blankets, which made the shaking stop! Even the nurse didn’t know this. I got to 10cm, and started pushing. Unfortunately, the baby got stuck, and I had to go for the c-section. The birth did not go as planned, and the baby ended up in NICU for two weeks. That’s when things got really hard.
While baby was in the NICU, I started pumping to bring in my milk supply, and it was a rough few weeks. From edema to engorgement to oversupply to anxiety, Nina fielded every question, text, and phone call extensively, and dropped off necessary supplies on very short notice. (That bag of ice packs was so very helpful!!) Nina supported me in getting the milk flowing, but also in keeping a level head through it all. And, it was a lot to get through!
Now baby is a happy, healthy 3mo-old, and breastfeeding exclusively! I don’t know how I would have made it through those first few weeks without your help, Nina!
