You have the right to give informed consent – that includes being made aware of risks, benefits and potential harm to you and/or your child. Remember, even if you hear a statement that sounds like what’s being said is your only option or a decision is made for you, or you are in the midst of a medical emergency, you still have the right to give informed consent. No matter how you are spoken too or what is said, you can still ask questions, and your informed consent should never be revoked. Further, being admitted to the hospital is not implied consent.
